Battery care

With the right application you can keep the lifespan of a battery long. Please note the following tips so that you can use your Golisi batteries for a long time:

Before first use

When delivered, your battery is already charged. Basically, it used to be thought that the battery had to be fully charged before it was used for the first time. This is a misconception with Li-Io batteries. Depending on the application, a constant charge level of 30-70% is ideal and improves the lifespan of a battery. Of course, if you need a full battery the next day, then charge it fully.

General treatment

Basically, the ideal charge level for a battery is between 30 and 70%. This means that the battery does not always have to be full. On the contrary, keeping a battery fully charged is not good for its lifespan. If you use our batteries in a flashlight, for example, we recommend actually only charging the batteries to 70-80%. But if you need full power for your model car, then of course charge it fully.

High temperatures

High temperatures, especially in conjunction with a permanently full charge level, should be avoided as they can cause long-term damage to the battery. Also make sure not to leave a battery on the windowsill in summer.

Storage of batteries

When storing batteries for a longer period of time, care should be taken to ensure that the battery is at a charge level of 40-60%. A storage temperature of 5-15°C is also recommended. Please ensure that you never store a battery when it is empty. In this case there is a risk of deep discharge. The battery may then no longer be usable.

Recharge battery

The battery does not necessarily have to be empty in order to be able to recharge it. As already mentioned, the ideal charge level for a battery is between 30% and 70%.

Charging shortens life cycle

Of course, the life cycle of a battery refers to charging processes. However, this does not necessarily mean that the battery has to be empty before it can be fully charged or that every "plugging in" of the battery has a negative effect on its lifespan. A charging process can also consist of several charging processes.

Control

Check your batteries regularly for external damage. Elevations under the shrink tube that can be felt with your finger indicate overloading. In this case, you should refrain from using the battery any further. Also pay attention to corrosion at the poles. If the shrink tubing is simply damaged, it may be possible to replace it. We strongly advise against further use of damaged batteries.

Overload

Be careful not to overload your batteries. Choose the right battery for your purposes and feel free to contact us if you have any questions. If a battery is overloaded, this can lead to damage.

Further safety information

Keep batteries away from fire and water! Do not use batteries outside the specified temperature ranges. Children should not use this product without parental supervision. Li-Io cells should only be operated with protective electronics. Incorrect use or short circuit can lead to fire or explosion.
